Don’t Do This If You Want To Be Productive

Productivity is a lot about what you don’t do, instead of what you do. Let’s discover what can help us work more productively.

We all want to be more productive and feel like getting more things done. We are striving for success and determined to push harder to achieve our goals.

We are goal-getters and we believe productivity is a skill that can be obtained.

But did you actually know it’s more about what you don’t do instead of what you do?

There are several limiting mindsets to us that we can change for better.

1. Success is a marathon, not a sprint

Many people follow a “sprint” mentality instead of working with a more sustainable routine. They will have very productive hours of pushing through work, then get pretty comfortable lounging around.

Don’t forget the success is about attaining your goals at a sustainable, long-paced run.

It’s not a sprint, it’s not a 100 meter run but it’s a marathon.

What does it mean? It means you should also take breaks, take time to rest and not burn yourself out.

2. Eliminate distractions.

We all have distractions in our work space. First of all, we have our phones with plenty of distractions, email, social media in them.

Instead of trying to cope with these distractions, eliminating them altogether can be a direct and determinate way to get more success.

  • Try out apps like Self Control to block social media or other pass time websites you can’t help but not look.
  • Limit your screen time on the phone.
  • Set out alarms for yourself.

3. Do work that matters.

Many times we often find work boring not because we are lazy people but because we’re doing unmeaningful work to us.

Think about all those times you didn’t even realize how time flew by because you were so busy immersing yourself in the work you enjoyed doing.

If you’re feeling really unproductive about a certain task or job, maybe you should ask yourself: Is this because I don’t find meaning in what I’m doing?

If that’s the case and if you can change it, you should take steps towards changing your work. And if you can’t, focusing on how to look at it differently can help tremendously.
