Getting Out of The Quarantine Rut
After months into the quarantine, we’re sucked into what we call the quarantine rut. It’s so easy to lose your focus and so hard to keep your chin up when days look all the same. As the world is reopening, here’s how you can get out of this rut.
Under quarantine, you may have slipped into weird sleep cycles and may have noticed you’re less productive, which makes us fear going back into quarantine life. Even if you’re a self-proclaimed introvert, there’s huge difference between spending time home and not being able to leave home.
1. Have a good morning routine
I know it’s tempting to work from your laptop on your bed but nailing down the perfect energizing morning routine can be truly life-changing, or at least day-changing. Setting up the right tone before you start your day will set you into an action mode faster.
The compound effect is what turns small steps in the right action to bigger outcomes. Doing consistently something beneficial.
2. Do one productive task in the morning.
Whether it’s cleaning the kitchen, coding, doing exercise or finishing off one task you put off yesterday, it’s all about creating a momentum of action. You’ll often find that it’s much harder to start and get the first things done than to continue getting them done. This holds true with almost anything. If you’re a freelance worker, the first few clients you’ll sign will be the hardest, then projects will start coming to you in a much more effortless way. When you look back on your day, you’ll notice usually before midday you’ll have had a nice morning and done at least one productive task. It will motivate you to keep pushing during the rest of your day and continue this momentum.
3. Keep doing this every day.
Yes, it isn’t rocket science. You’ll be surprised by how far you came along once you stick to a routine and set certain things onto autopilot mode. For instance, I make sure to not check out my phone when I wake up because I don’t want to end up in that endless scroll of Instagram and before you know it, 20 minutes have passed.
Make sure you do every day a little more than the day before.
Never underestimate the power of small steps into the right direction.
Over time those small steps will compound into tangible results.
Remember: “The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.”
